Jon Davis – SR – Fithian Oakwood

At last May’s IHSA State Track & Field Meet, Jon Davis reflected on his double win in the 3200 and 1600 for the second year in a row. He also was already looking ahead to the fall and the cross country season.

“I am looking forward to doing something special this fall,” Davis said.

Boy did he ever!

Davis had a goal at the year of having the fastest time ever in the IHSA State Cross Country Meet that was run by Craig Virgin 43 years ago. The future University of Illinois student/athlete came up short on that but still became the sixth fastest runner ever at the state meet running 13:59.3. He joins an elite class. His win at state was by 45 seconds ahead of Tolono Unity’s Andrew Warnes.

Davis qualified for both national meets winning both the NXN Midwest Regional and the Foot Locker Midwest Regional. He earned All-American honors placing 14^th at the Foot Locker Nationals. Jon also finished 22^nd at the Nike Cross Nationals the week before.
